Samba Loca

Overview

Introducing the Samba Loca Brazilian Steakhouse App Design project, which aims to provide a solution to the busy schedules of working professionals who often struggle to find time to prepare a meal. With a focus on ease of use, live to-to-date orders and healthy dishes, this app is designed to bring a fun and engaging experience to ordering food. Say goodbye to boring food apps and hello to a more enjoyable dining experience with Samba Loca.

The goal is to design an app for Samba Loca that allows users to easily order, live up-to-date orders with healthy dishes and enjoyment when ordering.

Role

I designed Samba Loca from conception to delivery. See prototype.

Insight

To gain insights into the users I am designing for and their requirements, I conducted interviews and utilized empathy maps. Among the primary user groups identified through research were working adults who face time constraints, preventing them from cooking meals at home.

While this user group validated initial assumptions about Samba Loca customers, the research also unveiled other factors contributing to their reluctance to cook at home. Some users faced challenges related to various commitments, personal interests, or difficulties in procuring groceries for cooking or dining out at restaurants in person.

USER JOURNEY MAP

Mapping Jasmine Ali's user journey revealed how helpful it would be for users to have access to Samba Loca Brazilian Steakhouse.

Paper
wireframe

By dedicating time to sketching multiple iterations of each app screen on paper, I ensured that the elements eventually incorporated into the digital wireframes were carefully designed to address user pain points effectively. Specifically, for the home screen, we placed a high priority on crafting a quick and user-friendly ordering process, enabling users to save valuable time when placing their orders.

Low-fidelity Prototype

After finalizing the digital wireframes, I proceeded to develop a low-fidelity prototype. The main user flow centered around constructing and ordering authentic Brazilian meals, making it suitable for a usability study.

Meet the Mockups

Early designs allowed for some customization,
but after the usability studies, I added the shopping cart at the top right corner and also added "locals favorite" instead of "today's deals."

The second usability study revealed the frustration with adding more of the same meals. To streamline the flow I added the options where you can add more of the same meal or delete the meal if you don’t want it.

High-Fidelity Prototype

Takeaways

While designing Samba Loca Brazilian Steakhouse, I learned that the first ideas of the app are only the beginning of the process. The usability study and peer feedback influenced each situation of the design of the app.The app makes users feel like Samba Loca Brazilian Steakhouse really thinks about how to meet their needs.

Role

UX designer leading the app and responsive website design from conception providing housing, work, transportation, and goods.

The problem is in the United States, the homelessness rate has reached 18%, and the daily increase in inflation poses significant challenges. Our aim is to establish an affordable solution that assists individuals in need. Furthermore, our long-term vision extends to global outreach, as we aspire to expand our efforts internationally.

What's Next?

In order to validate the effectiveness of the changes made and to address any remaining pain points, another round of usability studies will be conducted. This round will involve presenting the updated high-fidelity prototype to the users and closely observing their interactions and feedback.

2

What's Next?

To identify any new areas of need and gather comprehensive insights, further user research will be conducted. This research will involve engaging with the target users through surveys, interviews, and usability testing sessions.

3

What's Next?

By conducting these usability studies, we aim to ensure that the product meets user expectations and provides an optimal and user-friendly experience. The insights gained from this round will be used to further refine the product and deliver a solution that truly caters to the needs of the users.
